Early June brought us a visit from a high school friend and the graduation and goodbye to another. We celebrated on the beach in Lincoln Park and had fun flexing our funny bones and enjoying the sunset.
Mr. Mate and I headed down to Chico back in mid June. It was a trip filled with family, babies in the flesh, babies in utero, and high temperatures. This March marked our 8th year since moving to Seattle and this Chico visit was the first time that the 102 degree heat felt stifling instead of fantastically warming. Standard attire included a bathing suit and nothing else whenever we were not in public.

Back in the Northwest, Mr. Mate and I took a hike up Mt. Si July 4th.We made it up in just under 2 hours with me huffing and puffing and feeling more than a little wobbly during the first half. Some of that had to do with the 4 hours of sleep I’d gotten the previous night and our early morning start. Next time I’ll remember an extra blanket and something hot to drink to make the summit a little more comfortable.

Mid-July brought the West Seattle Garden Tour and lots of ideas for the yard.

July 16 brought the birth of my very first niece Ellie Sophia. I’m thrilled for my brother and sister-in-law and can’t wait to meet this little snuggle bug.
The last weekend of July brought the Alki Art Fair. This was my first time doing this two day event and I’ll definitely be back. The weather was wonderful and the views unbeatable. I added framed prints to the set up which necessitated adding some kind of hanging system and walls to make the space seem more cohesive. I also switched out my black table cloths for white which looks much more bright and cheery. I ended up liking the set up and plan on making it may market standard.

The “official” end of summer will find Mr. Mate and me in San Diego for a long weekend and the wedding of a high school friend. I’m looiking forward to catching up with friends and family while we’re in SoCal and making the end of summer a little sweeter.
