We’ve had a stretch of warm sunny days here in Seattle with gorgeous blue skys and mellow warmth. It’s heartbreaking how lovely it has been and how the days are that much sweeter because of the sharpening chill of the early morning.

This month has been a bit of a whirlwind with a trip to San Diego for a friend’s wedding and a visit from my oldest sister and youngest nephew four days later. These visits were just what I needed. It was so great to see a quartet of high school friends and soak up heat and sun at the beach.

My nephew is on the verge of talking and finally, as he got to know me and Mr. Mate better, more affectionate. My sister also packed all his Orange Twist onesies, so we were treated to them in action. I’m happy to report that they are holding up well to drool, berry and grass stains, and all the rest of the trials toddlers put them through.

The end of September also brings a trip to abroad for me and Mr. Mate. I haven’t been to Europe since 2002 when I did a language intensive in Angers, France and an internship in Nice. It’s been ten years and we are looking forward to spending two weeks in Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands. Mr. Mate will be running the Berlin marathon during the first leg of the journey and we’ll be traveling with friends before heading off on our own. I’ll be bringing my sketchbook on the trip and expect to see some of those drawings work their way into cards.
I’ll be posting images to Facebook while we’re abroad so be sure to check it out!
