Last Friday my (almost) sister-in-(common)-law and I went up to the tulip festival in the Skagit Valley. It was pretty late in the tulip growing season and while there weren’t a ton of fields blooming, the ones we saw were beautiful.
After tiptoeing through the tulips to avoid large puddles, we drove to to La Conner for lunch. On our way to Seeds Bistro I spied a sweet shop across the street. A big burger and fries later, we stopped into Egg and Dart. Their offerings range from new to vintage, home decor to furnishings, and gifts to floral arrangements. I was enchanted by their selection of vintage handkerchiefs and ended up buying ten — a minor and lovely indulgence.
Some will end up serving their humble and original purpose while the ones pictured above will function to inspire, wrap gifts, or brighten up a space.
After our interlude at Egg and Dart, we headed back to Seattle around 2:15 in hopes of beating traffic. No such luck, but the sun came out for the first time!
Despite the traffic it was a fun excursion and reminded me why it’s so special to have a day out every so often!
